Craig Hicks appointed Surrey FA Referee Development Officer
Surrey FA is delighted to announce that we have recently appointed Craig Hicks as our new Referee Development Officer.
The Surrey-born official joins the organisation from 4 January 2022, and will be bringing a wealth of experience to the role.
Craig's journey began when he qualified as a referee with Surrey FA. From there, he began refereeing on the Epsom & Ewell Youth League, going on to officiate in the National League before being promoted to the list of EFL referees in the summer of 2017.
He remains in the EFL to date as a Level 1 referee, notably featuring as the 4th Official on the EFL League 2 play-off Final last season at Wembley Stadium.
On his appointment, Craig said: “I can’t wait to get started in my new role in the New Year. The Surrey FA has some exciting plans for refereeing and I am looking forward to supporting and developing all Surrey referees by implementing these projects across the community.”
Surrey FA CEO, Sally Lockyer, said: “I am delighted to welcome Craig to the team at Surrey FA. It is fitting that Craig has developed his refereeing career through the Surrey FA system and his wealth of referee experience speaks for itself. We look forward to driving the referee agenda forward under his leadership.”
Craig's knowledge and experience will no doubt benefit Surrey FA as we continue to support our referee network, and we are very much looking forward to welcoming him to Meadowbank officially in 2022.
