Our new dedicated Club Development Team, led by Darryl Gheerawo and Lily West, is here to help clubs across the county reach their full potential by offering tailored support and guidance.

Our Club Development Team is now booking visits with clubs to create personalised Club Development Plans. This will include how clubs plan to retain or grow their accreditation status, meet their club missions and grow their pathways.

What Can You Expect?

During a club development visit, Darryl and Lily will:

• Introduce themselves and start a strong, supportive relationship with your club, ensuring you have a direct point of contact for ongoing guidance
• Assess your club’s current structure and future ambitions
• Offer guidance on governance, funding, and sustainability
• Give your club the opportunity to share feedback on any wider issues or development needs
• Support your club in becoming more inclusive and welcoming
• Offer advice on how to utilise and expand the number of volunteers
• Help identify opportunities to expand participation including advice on how to achieve higher levels of accreditation

Introducing Thriving Community Clubs

Through the FA’s new Thriving Community Clubs initiative, 2- and 3-star accredited clubs will have the opportunity to develop into Thriving Community Clubs. These clubs will be 3-star clubs who provide disability provision, full male pathways and full female pathways and have committed to working with us ensure their sustainability through five key pillars: governance & leadership, facilities, player opportunities, coaching, and community impact. Clubs will have access to assessment tools to help evaluate progress and identify areas for development based on the 5 pillars. Support will be offered in line with these areas as well as receiving expert guidance from FA consultants. 

While Thriving Community Clubs are specific to 2- and 3-star clubs wanting to take the next step, we’re committed to ensuring 1-star clubs feel just as supported. We believe 
every club, regardless of size or experience, can benefit from expert support to develop and grow in ways feasible to them. The more we understand your needs the greater tailored support we can offer.
