Mole Valley Girls and Jersey Bulls U16 Girls Make History at Thorpe Park Surrey County Cup

History to be made at Thorpe Park Surrey County Cup.

In a historic first, a Jersey Bulls U16 Girls team will be flying in Gatwick to participate in the Thorpe Park Surrey County Cup, marking a special occasion for both the visiting team and their hosts, Mole Valley Girls U16s.

This highly anticipated match represents a growing chapter in the women’s and girls' football scene, with international connections being forged at the grassroots level.

Gareth Thomas, manager of Mole Valley Girls U16s, expressed the excitement surrounding the event:

"We’re really excited to be hosting the girls from Jersey - it’s definitely the first time an opponent has flown in for a match with us! The players are looking forward to a competitive game and getting to know each other afterwards with a post-match social. There are already rumours of a possible return fixture or tour later in the year!"

The camaraderie between the two teams is already forming, with plans for future fixtures and further collaboration, showcasing how football brings young people together from across regions.

Bob Dick, Competitions Officer at Surrey FA, shared his enthusiasm for the fixture:

"It is exciting that Jersey Bulls are bringing a team over to take part in the Thorpe Park County Cup. It’s the first time in my 15 years here at Surrey FA that a youth girl’s team from the Channel Islands have entered, and long may it continue."

Jersey Bulls travelling to Surrey for this match is a testament to the rapid growth in women’s and girls' football. With opportunities like these, the game continues to expand, offering young female players from both Surrey and Jersey an unforgettable experience on and off the pitch.

As anticipation builds for this ground-breaking match, it’s clear that the event will not only be a thrilling contest but also a celebration of the ever-evolving women’s game. The future of football is looking bright for these talented young athletes.
